What to buy...

well with the taxes coming back at the end of february, i will be getting around 2 grand back. i want to get my rexxie road worthy. i have a 1987 GX that im planning to do a turbo swap to, so i can either buy a turbo motor with the money or by suspensions and what not first... any suggestions guys

btw the reason im getting so much back is because im still under age incase all u were wondering.

Go with suspension unless you're sure the motor needs replaced. Even with the engine you have now, it'll feel like a new car after you do the suspension. Get some springs and struts and maybe some tires and you're looking at about $1k right there and you have another $1k for other stuff.

im not sure if my motor needs to be replaced. i have to get a compression test done. there is no coolant leak. only problem is after ive driven my rexxie for awhile the idle gets a bit sloppy, bogs a bit. other then that it runs great

Springs, shocks, bushings, tires, alignment.

There, your car now drives much better than it did before.

Use whatever's left over to replace whatevers worn out, or broken. Coolant hoses? Bad coolant hoses can end up with a fried motor... Need a new battery, maybe? How about the alternator, starter? Brake pads? Fluids? Vacuum hoses? All of these things can hurt the reliablity and performance of your car... and that's just the beginning of the list.

Check for rust (if you've got any, fix it before it's too late) and maybe consider having some body work done. Got any bad paint spots? Paint them before they rust (well, if the paint's been eaten off by something, like brake fluid)...

And after that, worry about things that effect the resale value... ie, does your A/C and heater work? How about the stereo? Hatch dampers? once again, the list goes on.

A turbo swap is the LAST thing you should be worried about. Modding comes after your car is already running at 100%.

Unless you've got bad compression (75 PSI~ or less with a full battery charge)... then I'd go ahead and save up for a new engine, but not until you've got the chassis sorted.

battery is replaced, AC and Power steering are gone, and ive already done a turbo brake upgrade. i dont plan on selling the car unless things get tight so im not to worried about re-sale but i was actually planning to do everything drive wise before i did the swap, that way i can just bolt it right on and rewire etc etc just makes things a little easier. so i think i will do the suspension and wheels, then flush all the fluids replace the lines and what not

thx for ur input
