My not-quite-stock '86 has a copper 6-puck ACT clutch and we could be happier.

It ain't a matter of need. It's a matter of survival.

What do I use? ACT Xtreme Pressure Plate, ACT Performance Street Disk, with TII Throwout Bearing (If thats relevant) and Racing Beat's Aluminum Flywheel.

Loving every moment of It but to bad I'm braking It In though.

I have an 86 N/A that I have streetported, test pipe, no emissions, ect.. I was driving the other day and the clutch made a little grinding noise, then it wouldn't disengage. I figure it's the throwout bearing. But while i'm in there I figure I'll put in a better clutch that can handle the extra power. So I was wondering what you guys thought the best clutch would be.

Contrary to popular belief, It Is streetable. I notice a tad bit more slipping of the Clutch awhile engaging In gear, esp first. It Is so minor that I have yet to stall out getting It Into 1st gear.

I think the light steel fly wheel will be my choice. Not too heavy, not too lite.

The ACT 6-puck copper clutch will be the last clutch you ever put in the car. My 7 mechanic put mine in, and he's put them on a lot of 7 for years and he's *never* seen or heard of one failing. We're talking both street and drag cars.
The OEM clutch, otoh, you can waste with just one weekend of hard driving. Ask me how I know.

I have the ACT Street/strip clutch. It's a great clutch. I'm told by Don Marvel of Marvelspeed it's a good clutch up to 500 hp.

Unorthodox Racing is making some fantastic looking clutches. Don't know anything about the application range, nor do I know about the price or reputation. But, maybe look into that.

I hear decent reports on the ACT stuff.

What clutch would you guys suggest for a 1987 N/A. I need to replace the clutch and get the tranny rebuilt.

I just bought a RPS clutch from Magnus in T.O. I've heard some good things about it so I'm anxious to put it in.

I just got my ACT clutch today. Wow, you guys should see this beautiful thing. I bought the clutch set from SR Motorsports. Comes with pilot bearing, pilot bearing seal, upgraded(turbo) throwout bearing, disc alignment tool, street/race disc, and performance pressure plate. Oh yeah, and two ACT stickers. All together shipping and all I paid $398.87. It's going in on Saturday. I can't wait.
