what is the blue dot solnoid?
what is the blue dot solnoid?
The vacuum solnoid on the driver's side of the engine bay is broken. I have consulted the Haynes and found a diagram for an 89 n/a... that looks nothing like my 87.
It appears that the 89 has 5 solnoids and mine has but 2. The one with the blue dot has the upper hose connector snapped off. The performance of the car hasn't changed, but I don't want to walk outside on a 90 degree day and have a starting problem.
What is it, what does it do, and do I need to rush right out to my local Mazda dealer and fix it tomorrow?
Thanks in advance.

Blue is the Relief Solenoid valve. With this broken, you have a slight vacuum leak. Also, you will never get secondary air injected into the engine/cat via the ACV (Air Control Valve). Summary: Slight vacuum leak, dirty engine emissions wise.

Well as long as all I'm doing is chugging a little at idle and doing my part to destroy the planet, then I'll worry about it when I can find a junkyard piece. Thanks guys.
