what the best way to repair this connector?

one of the pins on the connecter that goes to my gauge cluster surround must have shorted sometime in the past 17 years, it burnt the connector pretty bad and melted part of it. What would you do? clip the wires and crimp on a used connector? that's all I can think of.

Yes - solder & heat shrink the splices if possible.
And clean all the pins shinny bright.

If it's the headlight switch connector, that part of the harness can be replaced separately. Check the FSM.
