Hi everyone, as I progress with my restoration, I need to find the "correct part" that I either broke or lost.

Every non-stock piece I used over the years stand out like a sore thumb now!

I kinda found the part numbers I want, but some a NLA or don't fit my 88 GXL.

I tried to find a junked 2nd generation nearby but no luck so far.

Should I try listing them on this forum? I see that there is a great willingness to help on this site!

Here are the four pieces I am looking for:
Cargo bin attachment screw, 9986-50-525B. About an inch long with a greenish coating. Need 1
Carpet attaching plastic rivet, 68-865D. Grey in color, about 3/4" round head. Need 1
Pop-up push rivets, 69-885C. They go to the black plastic panels in front of the radiator. Once installed you only need to push the button and it will pop up allowing the rivet to be removed! Need five or so
Mounting screw 9986-50-416B. The speaker covers in the rear use these plastic screws and washers, mine are gray. Need 3

9986-50-525B is available new from Mazda, still 90's price too

9986-50-416B is NLA, but 9986-50-416 is available, same thing instead of dark plating, it will be gold zinc

the 68-865D is NLA, but they have 69 of them in stock, S083-68-865A-09
and 865C is G032-68-865A-09 which Mazda also has

 

Would you be able to do me a favour and upload a picture of this screw when you get a chance? If it's the one I'm thinking of then I also need a few, but the dealership previously told me they couldn't find the right one.

i just email the parts manager at the dealership, i've known him for years

if i didn't have that deal though, since you have the part number, you can find out the best deal for you though. in 2024 you need factor in tax and shipping
and maybe shipping time too. its often quicker to get stuff from Japan.

Awesome, that's exactly the one I was thinking of. Now I can place an order.

I had to replace a few of them around the interior (on the sill plates for example) with generic ones I found online. The generic ones fit okay (except that they're Philips head instead of JIS, so I need two screwdrivers in my storage bin instead of one), but the fact that they look a bit different just bothers me.

I just received three genuine Mazda parts from Japan.

Nengun Performance

Out of the five parts I ordered they only had these three.



The 9079-60-616 is listed as a shaft bolt & washer. It is not the period correct hinge bolt that I need.
It is a nice SS wide flange bolt that I am sure is strong enough. Perhaps I will order 3 more and replace all of the original bolts.
Which I then can sell on eBay for $$$$!!!

The 9078-60-612 caught my eye because it does have the "8" on the bolthead! But it has a captive washer on it, not the wide flange I was hoping for. They list it as a 'Tapping screw & washer". Oh well.

The 9986-50-525B is the correct screw I needed for the missing one on my cargo bay. The color is slightly off but close enough.
These screws do not match the ones used on the sill plates, those do not have a flange on them!

The search continues!

 

I was wondering if you can provide me with a part number for the rubber mount? The one on the firewall has separated and I would like to replace it rather than glue it back together.

Hey does your "contact" have any information on the screws/bolts that hold the front OEM S5 lip spoiler? I stupidly removed them and lost them. I went to the dealer and they said they only see 3 bolts on the front but it's definitely more than that.

Or at least any aftermarket bolts that fit. I can't exactly take the bumper into Home Depot to try and test fit every bolt.

try F285-13-363, you might find the studs are even length, so one might be a little shorter
the correct ones are NLA, FA54-61-973 and FB01-61-731

Hi everyone,
While I was disconnecting the fuel injectors, I managed to break one of the wires that hold the connector to the injector. Also, I have lost track of two of the rubber gaskets that seal the connectors.

Does anyone know the part numbers for these pieces?

If you're handy with wiring, I'd just replace the connectors. They get really crusty with age.

You can find them at Cycle Terminal, along with matching rubber boots:

One thing to keep in mind is that often due to heat and time the first few inches of wire in the harness are oxidized inside of their sheath, and the sheath is crumbly. You can't crimp to an oxidized wire of course, so you need to work your way back until you find good wiring to splice to and then crimp to your new wiring.

So I'd be prepared to unwrap the harness, replace a good length of wire, and then rewrap it with harness tape. I like the TESA stuff but the silicone stuff also works well (albeit too shiny for my taste).

 

i like to just de-pin the old connector and then you can just put the new plastic piece on the old pins, and you're done.
obvs this only works if the wiring is ok, and the connector is just the broken bit
