What all do I need?

I plan on buying new wheels and tires once winter is over, and i know what i have in mind as far as the wheel/tire combo, but I don't really know everything that would be required or what sizes would be ideal.

My plans are for a 17x8.0 / 5x114.3 / +45 Enkei RPF1, but i don't EXACTLY know what every number means... And as far as my tire i'm looking at Yokohama Advan Neova AD08's.

Any suggestions as to what i need to do next?

Thanks for who can help me.

To ensure proper fitment under stock fenders, it is recommended to stay with a maximum wheel width of 8" in the front and 9" in the rear. Below would be my recommendations:

Symmetrical

17 x 8 +30 offset (min +25/max +35) Front and Rear, 225/45-17 tire

Asymmetrical (Staggered)

17 x 8 +30 offset (min +25/max +35) Front, 225/45-17 tire
17 x 9 +30 offset (min +20/max +40) Rear, 255/40-17 tire

Although very common, 5-Zigen FN01R-C wheels provide a great value at an entry-level price point, and offsets are available in the above ranges.

In addition to the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08, I'd also take a look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11. However for almost half the price, the Sumitomo HTR Z III is a good value.

If you have any additional questions, or want to learn more, there is also an excellent wheel and tire thread on this forum: https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-archive-112/official-fc-wheel-fitment-thread-467447/ Reted has also provided a lot of guidance in this area, as also found on his site: http://www.fc3spro.com

To the OP, it says in your profile that your car is an '85 GS. Do you have an FC or an FB? I'm guessing you actually have an FC since there weren't any FBs with 5-lug hubs.

If you do have an FC, you'll probably need a spacer up front to run an 8" wide wheel with a +45 offset since that's going to be 5 mm closer to the springs than the stock offset plus the wheel is wider. Of course if you have an aftermarket suspension, you may have more or less room to play with, etc. Assuming you go with a 225 tire up front, there shouldn't really be a need to roll the front fenders unless you go with a much lower offset.

You might want to check out some wheel/tire threads in that subforum for pictures of what other people have done.

Yea haha. When i first made my profile on here, I was on the verge of buying an '85 GS, but made my final decision of an '87 FC Sport. Very happy with my choice.

But thanks for all the advice everyone, it's very helpful.

Also, where would be the best place to buy the wheels and tires? Would it be best to just get it from the manufacturers or get them from a website (such as evasivemotorsports.com)? I just want to be able to find the best deal.
