Thats the variable resistor. It adjusts air/fuel ratio and sends a signal to control unit. It is set by the factory and covered in a wax like substance so that it cannot be tampered. And it should stay that way. The manual lists this item as tamper-proof

Adjusting it will slightly change the Air/Fuel ratio at idle. But rotorforce is right you really dont need to play with it unless you know what you are doing.
