Wha...What is this? AFM harness Q.

On my AFM harness there are all the wires connected to the pins for the AFM connector, but then there is a bare wire in there. It is braided somewhat like a ground strap. The end is frayed so I guess it could have been a connector on the end of it at one time. There is no jacket on this wire, and is braided like a ground strap as I said. Anyone know the function of it?

I can get a pic if needed.

look carefully at that diagram, noting which way the tabs are oriented. Which pin is it?

Sounds like a shielding wire. Didn't know the AFM harness had one.

No shielding wires there.

Could have been a resistor attached to change the fuel ratio. One of those internet 50hp gain bullshit things you sometimes see attached on the computer side.

Here are two pictures attached. This is an S5 vert by the way.

What you can't see in the pics is that the wire is bare and braided like a ground strap under there. The end is just all frayed.

Yea thats a shielding wire. It's there to prevent the magnetic field from your plug wires from screwing with the signals that are being sent to your ecu.

Whenever you move a conductor through a magnetic field, a charge is induced into the conductor. The theory of magnetism. Any slight change in the signal could send false readings to your computer. You'll find these in O2 sensor harnesses on later model vehicles too.

THE GREEN output wire is a shielded wire like several said above. There are more shielded wires if you look at the free online manual. More than the series four car for sure.
