Well either way, you are right and I was thinking of the NA guy. Sorry IeatV8s I had you mixed up with someone else! I still think you are running rich but sounds like the motor needs some more attention than a tweak to the fuel map.
I thought you were until you said turbo manifold, then i felt dumb.

atkins is great, or get in touch with kevin landers from rotary resurrection...it sounds like your motor is still in good shape its just the oil control rings and i think thats the kind of motors kevin likes to deal with he will use your used rotor housings and everything and its alot cheaper than MOST other places.

this is the debate every time his name comes up. if you want to spend over 2000 that has new housings then go to atkins or pineapple... if you want to spend 1200 dollars on a rebuild using in-spec housings and rotors then you go to kevin. Kevin uses all new seals but retains the housings and plates to use on the rebuild. His motors compress at roughly 120 psi Atkins' motors compress at 125 psi. Both motors will last just as long so its up to you and how much money you have.

well i havent changed mine yet, but it depends on what kinda boost you are gonna be running. Anything under 250 and the stock primaries should be fine

I just got a motor from atkins rotary, it was 1995 plus 75 for a resurfaced flywheel, and like 900 for R&R, but along the way they found my cooling system was shot, IC had a leak, turbo was crakced badly, motor mounts were non existant........and it goes on and on, so my total for new engine and labor and all the other new crap I had to get is just under $4000, but I only bought the car for $500, so Im not too mad.

First, you dont blow oil seals in your motor. Your block is fine. But you did blow the seals in the turbo. Time to rebuild the turbo.

Pull your intercooler off, and see if there is oil in it. If there is oil anywhere between the turbo and the engine block, then you blew the seals in the turbo. Might as well get an upgraded compressor while youre at it...

For everybody who told him his motor was bad, dont answer unless you know what youre talking about. You could have cost someone a motor, when it was actually the turbo that was the problem. I would pissed if someone told me I had a bad motor, and it turned out it was something totally unrelated.

bahhh, I ran a 13.5 at 6psi.... make sure you do a compression test first.. if its just oil seals yuo can still drive the car but you must fill it up every week....

Damn you people are stupid.....Oil control rings dont just fail one day. And they damn sure dont break from too much boost. I have NEVER seen a broken oil seal. And rarely to they wear out. Usually the rest of the motor wears out first. Also, a compression test will not be able to read worn oil control rings. They have absolutely nothing to do with compression. You could leave the oil control rings out completely, and you wouldnt be able to see a change in compression numbers.

Like I said, check for oil in your intercooler, and in the compressor side of your turbo. Im almost sure you will find oil there. On a side note, a compression test is never a bad idea, if for nothign else, to tell you how healthy the motor is. And blowing stock turbos at 14 psi is pretty common.

well I pulled the inlet hose off the compressor side of the turbo, and sure enough it had oil in it. I also did a compression check with a mazda checker, and my motor is tired and has low compression. The car has 128,000miles on it. I am going to have kevin landers rebuild my motor. Where is a good place to have my turbo rebuilt? Turbonetics said they could do it for around 300. Also I know my fuel injectors leak/are dirty. So with this new motor should I have my old ones professionaly cleaned, or should I just buy new upgraded ones?

Kevin does great work on motors. I would highly recommend him. Might be a good time for a SP. Its definately worth doing if the motor is apart. On turbos, BNR rebuilds them, but last time I checked, their site was down. RX7store sells BNR rebuild/upgraded turbos, so you can check that out.

About the injectors, cleaning your stock ones will cost less, but you might be better off buying 4 720's if you can control them. But like everything else, its a matter of how much you can spend.

Damn mazdaspeed7, no need to blow your frickin gasket and start calling people stupid. Get a grip, if he bought a motor and didnt need one its his fault. No one ever said take what is said on this forum as gospel. Just my opinion.

Very informative thread guys, ive leraned a lot, like not to believe everything ppl tell you...lol
IeatV8s, Judging from your current situation it sounds like you dident put much thought or much care into your mods. I say this because it sounds like you blew your turbo, and at 14psi thats like super easy to do. What i want to know is did you know this was bad for your turbo? Its a s5 right? Those can handle at the most 14psi and its not safe at all for the turbo. What im trying to get at is if you want to be running that kind of boost and those kinds of 1/4 times you should have done more research. Id say upgrade your turbo, get more fuel in there, get a controller for the fuel, Get a nice big FMIC...and so on do it right so you dont blow another turbo or possibly an engine. Good luck dude and no offense or anything but i basically have the EXACT setup as you and im learning from your mistake so i dont blow anything when i hit the tracks.

When I see 15 people jump on the stupid bandwagon and tell someone something that is not only wrong, but pretty much a physical impossibility, they deserve it. If you dont know the answer, dont answer. Dont take guesses that have no real basis.
