Question well guys.. Drivetrain problems

I'm hoping some of you have had this problem. I was reading some prior posts and no one seems to know what is wrong. I have an 89 non turbo, pulled the egi fuse, cranked it, then put it back in and it fired right up. runs like crap but ok. i'm going to atf it today. Now here's my real problem. While the engine is running, I can shift into gear. When I try and push on my clutch pedal, it is SOLID. like, seriously. could my rear end be bad, would that be why i can shift into gears? or is it just my clutch. thanks for any input.

What I mean is... The clutch pedal doesnt move, at all. It's as if the slave cylinder is locked up or something? It has fluid, and is bled and all that. Maybe the slave is locked into the disengaged position, maybe that is why I'm able to shift into gears while the car is running.

It sounds like your clutch is stuck in the 'pedal depressed' position.
This could be the slave cylinder is locked up (extended). Maybe from rust in the slave cyl. or a bad (swollen) flex hose. For troubleshooting open the bleeder and see if the slave cyl retracts.
How long since you drove it normally?
It could be a actual clutch failure.
Get under the car and take a look. It should be obvious.

with the bleeder open I'm still able to put the car in gear while running, so.. well, i'll check on that flex hose tomorrow, and see what I can see and i'll check back. in the meantime, i'm pricing clutches

Either the slave is locked, or your throw out bearing is stuck, or you fork is bent and jammed, or something along those lines, just look at the slave cylinder, does it look like the arm is extended out at all?

You have eliminated the hose as a problem.
Go with Sonic's tips.
