Question weird Timing problem.

I was messing with my timing today and to my surprice I think i find out why my idles sucks!! 1500 rpm or more!!
Backfiresss, run rich ( which now i assume that my is not burning all the fuel bc off bad timing).

Well L1 & L2 was a few degree off from yellow mark
(5 ATDC) on the pulley which is about 8 degree instead of 5,
so i set it back to Spec. But T2!! was exactly @ the same mark !!!!!! T1 was nowhere to be found
( i heard that T1 and T2 fires @ 180 different!!??)
i didn't check the timing @ 1500rpm. but check when i try to crank the car with fuel pump off. I know i can't set it when my idle is more than 900 rpm.

what can be causing that..i search and some says TPS
which bring me back to the TPS that i just recently install. It was used But it was within Spec 1k ohm @ rest and 6.4 k @ wot ( all this was measured when the car was cold. not warm)..but again it shouldn't be that far off RIGHT???

How about CAS??? i know that i can try to take it out and align the Yelow line on pulley with the timing mark then restab the CAS.
but how do i set the CAS b4 i restab it??? somebody show me the pics but i can't check it when i was @ work.
I think it was where the 2 big tooth align with the bolt holes that hold the Bline cap??

I'm reading FSM now but can't seem to find my answer.
so help please, Thank C

You need to adjust that TPS with the engine at operating temp. If it is cold when you adjust it, the thermowax pellet on the throttle body will keep the throttle open slightly which does not let the TPS go all of the way to its "fully closed" position.

If you adjusted this with the engine cold it is most likely WAY OFF spec.

The TPS out of adjustment will affect your timing as well as the idle, and you will need to get the engine idling down to around 750 to set the timing accurately.

Do a search for adjusting the TPS and you will most likely find a wealth of useful information.

You cannot have T1 and not have T2. They both fire at the same time from the same coil. I suggest you have a timing light issue. Reverse your clamp that goes over the sparkplug wire for T2 and I think you'll find it.

I've been told that this site: http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/demystifying.html holds some clues to how the ignition on a RX seven works. Might be. Might not be. Check it out.

from what i've red in this forums and FSM. I understood that L1& L2 fire @ the same time bc it's on the same coil ( with the verysame signal)@ 5 ATDC. then T1 & T2 fire @ 20 ATDC 180 degree apart. Thanks for the link it answer a lot of questions for me . Hailers =#1
