Weird overheating
It all started when we installed an electric can. It became an easy turn off while working in the engine bay, just remove it and reinstall later. Well, I reinstalled it one of those times and forgot to hook the power supply back up to it, anyhow, yeah the car overheated while idling in the driveway. We let it cool down and the car seemed fine after that.
Well after installing new motor mounts today, i took the car out for a spirited drive. I noticied it was missing often, but all guages reported ok-- no problems with heat, says the two temp guages.
As I pull into the driveway, I see a bit of steam coming from the engine bay, I knew at that point it was heat causing the misses. But both stats still reported being at normal temp.
Only thing I can think of is a bad coolant/water mix.
The coolant was being spit out the overflow hose the overflow tank. It had a bit of frothness to it, but probably because it had been boiling for a bit.
I'm not in a position to rebuilt yet, but its been on the todo list for some time.
Suggestions?

As I'm sure you know, overheating one of these engine can kill it pretty quick.

Sounds like you learned a valuable lesson. These engines do not tolerate overheating as well as other engines. Sorry to hear about your situation but it sounds like you are in for a teardown.
Why did mess with the stock cooling system? I doesn't sound like you upgraded it by your experience.
