Weird noise

When I put my key in the ignition and move it up so that the battery is engaged and my lights and other electrical powered things work I get a weird whistle sound....any ideas what it might be? it kinda reminds me of a supercharger whine...but then again not...is it my alternator or something? I don't think I've ever heard it before

inside the engine bay... I can't really pin it down anywhere....when I go to the left it sounds like it's coming from the right side and vise versa

could be the speakers. If you're talking about the sound I'm thinking of, anyway. Some speakers will give out faint electrical sounds that sound like high pitched whistling.
