weird idle *Confused*

Got the new engine in about a week ago. Used the same wiring harness and uim. But anyways, Idle is high and does not react to any change in the BAC idle screw. Idle is 2000 rpm with clutch pressed down, 1000 with the clutch out, but bounces up and down (between 900 and 1500) fast when cold, slow when warm. The car also doesnt feel like it WANTs to go over 5500 RPM. I have seen a little bit of dark smoke come out when I have dared to go over 5500, but have been to scared to do it any more. My last engine WANTED to go high rpm, and responded better doing so. The car also floods EVERY time after the initial start up, or if it has been sitting for a long time. I had to install a switch on my fuel pump it gets flooded to easily.

Im about to take the car out for a warm up drive and then check the TPS, but was wondering if you guys have any other ideas? Leaky injector/s? I dont have a vacuum leak, I sprayed starter fluid ALLLLL over the place with no change.

~Thanks guys.

ooookkk well. I went out and checked the TPS. Warm up car, and surprise surprise it was like 1.7k ohms. So I start to unscrew the screw to lower the resistance and it stops going down.... ... the screw isn't even in the hole any more... so i'm like ?? After a few mins of tinkering around, checking to make sure the throttle cable wasn't keeping it open, I realize that I can PUSH it close with a little force. When I push it closed more it dropped down to like .4. Again confused I took off, what I call the dynamic chamber, but I think its more of a throttle body. And tried to figure it out. I came to the conclusion that it was just a little rusty cause it was sitting with the engine for I don't know how long. I changed it back over to the one I had on my other engine. Started right up, no flooding, 750 idle, sounded so smooth, so quite. I about died. I started to pull out of my driveway, (dirt, rock road), and when it hit 4000 rpm just took off, spinning. Almost hit my neighbors fence haha. NOW if feels good to drive the rx7 again. It WANTs to pull, instead of me begging/forcing. I love these engines, but there are so many ways to describe them.
Strong, but fragile. Fun, but VERY touchy.

Anyways, another problem hits the dust..... whats that.... 100 now? haha

~Thanks, Tweak

P.S. WOOT WHO EVER FIXED THE FORUMS! THEY ARE AWESOME AGAIN! THANKS
