Weird fuel injector question (high imp, low imp)
well, i have kind of a weird question about high imp/low imp injectors. well my car is an 88 GXL, i checked the vin number cross over date for high imp and it starts with 550xxx, my vin starts with 602xxx, so according to my vin i should have high imp injectors, my ECU is also an N327, which again suggests it should be high imp injectors. now what i dont understand, when it was running it had the red topped center notched low imp injectors, and has the resistor box for low imp injectors.
a few months ago i got an engine and didnt have any good injectors left over so i spliced in some S5 injectors thinking they would work (since i thought it was high imp) it would start, but it wouldnt idle at all and it revved weird. needless to say the engine died, i never got to drive it.
so, is this a weird thing, or does it happen sometimes?? i tried a search on something similar but didnt find anything worthwhile, sorry if i missed it somewhere.
thanks in advance for your help and replies.

Only pre '87 1/2 cars had low impedance injectors. Your car must have been a recipient from an older donor S4 with the low impedance injector setup. That resistor pack does not come in anything later than late 87.
I like the low impedance setup a little better but if you want to switch to high impedance, swap the injectors and cut the 5 wires going to the resistor pack. Cut them between the pack and the plug. Take all five wires and strip them down, twist them together, solder them together and cover them up with liquid electric tape or something. Easy as that.
