Weird Electrical Problem. Alternator failing?

I had a weird problem for abotu an hour of driving the other day. I drove the car in the mornign and it was fine, turned it off it cooled down. Came back out later, got back in it and whenever I'd press the brakes, use a turn signal, turn on the headlights etc. above 1500RPM the voltage would drop to about 8Volts, then come back up. I'd pretty much lose complete power whenever I'd apply a draw to the electrical system.
Under 1k rpm, sitting at light etc. the car would be fine since it was running off the battery.

I got to where I was going, turned it off and it sat for about 2 hours, got back in, and the problem was gone. I haven't had a problem with it in a week.

I figured the alternator was going bad so I didn't check any connections. It was just very weird that it fixed itself after I turned it off.

Any Ideas?
