Weird door handle/alarm problem

ok, i have a 88 GXL with the alarm system, and NO power locks

i took an outer door handle from an 89 S5 car, installed it on my car, DID NOT change the key cylinders out, so i just use a different key to get in, now, when i arm the system, and close the door, then unlock it from the outside, the alarm will go off, it never did this with the old handle, the internals/contacts on the handle look identical to the other one, all connectors behind the door panel are connected and match up by colors to the old handle, so, wtf could cause this? do i need to switch the key cylinders out?

weird. I would just swap the cylinders so the alarm works plus so you can use the same key

The door handle cylinder lock is actually easier than it looks to change, it's a simple u clip that bends around the cylinder, pop that out - remove and replace with new one, and snap clip back around it so it's snug! walah!

i know, i took apart the old one just for kicks right after i took it out, but, just wondering if the handles are car specific and/or s4 and s5 swapping matters or not
