Question weird compressions. is it possible?

hi, I checked the compression on my friend's 88 n/a the other day, and got little confused with what I got:

front: about 55 PSI
rear: about 75 PSI

the car starts fine and blow alot of blue smokes(gas). the compressions were takend when the engine is cold. normally, the colde engine will make lower compression. so, are those number OK?

we cut off the car before neighbors call the fire truck.

thanks

thats WAY low! but you probably are't doing it right.check the FAQ for correct comp check proceedure, which involves removing valve from comp tester.Basically you're looking to see three even pulses rather than a cumulative result...

here is what I did: took out the front top spark plug; screw the adapter in; hook up with the compression gauge; someone inside cranks the car. of course, with EGI fuse out.

the pluses sound like pretty even. and the car starts everytime without any extra effort. with that numbers, the car shouldn't have been started at all. that is why I am confused.

thanks for the reply.
