Weird clutch problem.
Weird clutch problem.
Hey guys, I was pushing my car to the daily redline and out of nowhere when i go to shift from first i hear a little "thunk" noise, then after that my clutch dont work. It was pinned to the floor.
I pulled it back up and the pedal feels all funny, sometimes pressure at the bottom, some times all springy like very loose, sometimes some tension, i dont know.
I cant shift into gear, so i had to power shift it home.
Now I am not familiar with clutches nor their working part, all I can think of is my pressure plate broke, or master/slave cyl blew. ( i dont work on transmissions, clutches, AT at all at work, so I really come clueless to this stuff. )
I dont see any fluid leaking and when i told my friend to push down on the clutch i see the slave push the fork.
The clutch is engaged at all times.
Any clue would be appreciated, or I would end up pulling my tranny and learn from step one.
Thanks.
ps, i did hear a slight tingling sound like metal bouncing around at one point powershifting, so that made me think something internal broke.

perhaps something did break internally. perhaps the throwout bearing gave up the ghost, maybe you lost a few springs on the clutch disc. i would first start by checking your fluid level for good measure. next, check to see if the slave cylinder's rod is still resting in its slot on the clutch fork. let us know what you find.
if you could see the fork move, and the hydralic seems fine
it could be the clutch pivot ball, right near the fork.
otherwise, hydralic.
pressure plate rarely fails to where it doesnt disengage.....
