Weird Brake Issue.

Hey dudes,

Recently while ive been driving my car ive noticed the brake pedal hasn't felt as firm or as "right there" when u hit the pedal as it has been.

When i come to stop and just hold the brake the pedal slowly goes down to the floor.. If i then move it comes back up until i hit the brakes again and it will go back down. Not suddently but over a minute or so.

Also if my car is idling, sold 800rpm. If it hit the brakes really fast on off on off on off. the car starts to idle lower and almost stall until i let off the brake assault. It goes back up to idle then..

anyone have any thoughs?

I think it might be the master cylinder?

Ryan

I would recommend stainless braided brake lines to eliminate the squishy brake pedeal feel. The idle dropping may be because electrical load is being put on the car when the brake lights go on.

You possibly need to bleed your brakes, but it sounds like your brake master cylinder is going out.

i believe that you need a new master cylinder. Because the seals inside are worm out so you are getting flude bypass. Cleaning your Idle control motor unit might help. I am just wondering did you bleed your brakes before the brake pedal problem started??

When you pump the brakes, you are using engine vacuum for the power assist. If you do this rapidly enough, you will cause the effect you describe. Do as Twisted suggests, you need a new M/C,

Thanks everyone.

Luckily I have an extra master cylinder.

The squishy pedal/going to the floor just recently started.

I haven't bled the brakes since i put the pads on last year in october.
