Weird beeping noise under dash

I got 87 N/T rx-7. When I drive for about 15 min, theres this beeping noise coming from under the dash. The beeping doesnt stop until I turn off the car and turn it back on. Also the power steering feels like it stops working. Ive checked the PS fluid and no warning lights. What could this be?

MYSTERY BEEP

Ah yes, the mystery beep.

This is most likely an electrical ground issue. I've had the problem and I've also had some battery and alternator grounds upgraded that has seemed to fix it.

Do a search on grounding or electrical. The answer is most likely there. Don't expect any mechanic to know it unless they have hard core rotary experience.

Also, at the time I had the mystery beep, I had related issues with a valve (damn, forgot it's name) in the emissions circuit. The PFC valve? Something like that. And the car was running hot, too.

Finally, tune it. That couldn't hurt.

Good luck.

Definitly the power steering computer. It has detected a fault, and is now warning you. Check the belt tension and fuse to start.
