water where there shouldnt be
whenever i wash my car i seem to get this watery residue stuff inside my flash to pass lenses, and it seems to only occur in the drivers side one. It doesnt seem to occur when it rains, but I might be wrong on that.
its not like an aquarium in there, but its like the inside of it has water droplets and they go away but since it hasnt been warm where i am, they are not going away.
So my question, is there a way to clean the FTP lenses without taking them off? Or is there a way to prevent this water from coming in? I would like to clean the FTPs anyways but they seem like a pain to take off.
In the picture i put a circle around where the water residue stuff is.

That would be condensation. Mazda used a special filter that didnt seem to last like the rest of the car. Every single RX7 ive ever seen had this problem. You can make that water evaporate quicker by taking the FTP lenses out and pulling the thing in my pic off.
The red circle is the nipple you need to take the rubber piece off of. The green is what I drilled and cut out to make the water evaporate even quicker.

The only way you will be able to fix it is take the lenses out. The lenses arent hard at all to get out. Just have to put your head lights up and I think there was only two screws. I had the same problem. Took a hair dryer to it to dry out the inside put sealant where I could see where water was getting in, popped it back in and havent had problems with it. How much did your headlights cost you? Do you have any other pics of them?

2 10mm nuts on each lens. use a deep well socket since its a stud. be careful that they are nto stuck, or else, the studs will break loose from the mounts on the FTP lenses.
thts what happend to me, and i couldnt put in my FTPs. i would have to epoxy the studs back on the the lens, and hope they are aligned correctly...but i just left them out. cuz my FTPs were all hazed anyhow.

thanks for the tips guys
hehe i had a feeling someone was going to ask about my headlights. altogether it cost $120 and it works great!
what i have is two sets of hella optilux auxiliary driving lights mounted to the upper half of each headlight frame, a diode between my brights and my regular lights, and a momentary switch rigged to my retractor fuse - the result: my lights pop up to any position i choose, but the only way it looks good is if it looks NSXish, like partway up, and it has full functionality at that height. in the picture, they should have been up more but i was just randomly taking pictures.
the pic is of it with the brights on
i can put up a how to if people are interested, everyone really likes the lights and i always get complemented on them. even my friend who has a 3rd gen wants to do this to his car too. i always hated those ugly square popups...this basically does everything the knightsport kit does and then some, cuz i think the kit isnt worth it cuz its expensive and the lights still pop up all the way. i can take more pictures too, lemme know

i would do that, hook a brotha up w/ a How-to.
i think that would be way better than me driving around w/ my lights down and shinging thru the FTP holes. since it only shines straight out, and nothing gets down on the road immediatly ahead of me. its WORSE when its raining at night, i cant even see the lines on the road.
id like to get some Xenon bulbs for those head lights, i think that would light up better than standard Halogen bulbs.
what size bulbes do your Knightsport-like head lights take?

wow! thanks for the compliments guys! now for sure i will take more pictures and make a how to! i told that rx7 racing2001 guy how to do it (cuz he happened to be online at the time and he was very VERY excited about doing it), but i hope i told him enough, i went thru it kinda fast.
the lights take H3 bulbs, and im pretty sure you could probably switch them with better ones.
is it just me though or didnt there used to be a how-to section on this site? what ever happened to that?
i'll keep you guys updated, take care

dunno about you guys but i have NEVER seen a FC in which the light the picture in the 2nd post has ever flashed. thos lights as someone else said have bulbs in them in the Jap Spec cars, they are park lights, when your car is parked at night or whatever in a hard to see place IE: half on the road half off the road, ya leave those lights on.
the light underneath that one and the one on the guard are flash to pass ones not the onec pictured.

yea pretty much go with his instructions for now, especially if you want to get started at least. i honestly don't know how long it will take me to get more pics/make a write up, it depends on weather/digital camera/school/work pretty much, so it could take from one week to one month. i'm gonna include every single last detail and everything in mine, cuz there is a chance that you could damage your retractor motors, damage your electrical system, or damage the lights. just be careful.
thanx again rx7_racing2001 for putting up instructions, if u have anymore questions go on aim.
