Water Thermo Sensor.

anyone know a way to tell if it is bad? I have really terrible hot start issues. car just dumps the fuel in and it floods itself out. but when the car is cold it starts up sooo nicely. I have to pull the egi fuse to get it going on hotstarts. and not just pull it, turn it over then put it back and go start it, i mean turn it over and have someone put the fuse in while it is turning over.

this is an 87 T2.

with all these threads i've been making, can you tell my car is a piece of crap!? hahah

I've been searching aswell.. seems as though it'll be either the ECU or thermo sensor.

the thermosensor is usually associated with COLD start issues, but I have found that with my s5 t2 that it also can cause some hot start issues as well. Usually the sensor itself doesn't go bad it's the connector that craps out though. Check the connector and see that one of the spades hasn't slid back; or just replace it and see if that helps. It's a standard two spade sensor connector you can get for 3 bucks at Autozone or whatever.

Its easy... Just pull your codes, the link should be in the FSM. If there is an issue with the thermosensor, the ECU should flag it since it will be defaulting to a pre-set value.

Have fun!
