water tempature

Has anyone use a direct fit sending unit to monitor water tempature? its a unit that you put directly into the radiator hose.

I wouldn't recommend that bacause it won't show temps if yuor T-Stat locks up and you overheat. Ijust taped the back of the waterpump.

You'd still have your stock water gauge to see if the thermostat does not open.

I have never used one but I did install a temp sensor to trigger an electric fan on my N/A into the upper radiator hose. The only thing I had to do periodicall was re-tighten the clamp since there was a copper wire going into the opening where the hose met the radiator. Never had any problems with this. The way I installed the temp sensor was by removing the waterpump housing and drilled an opening which I then threaded. I installed a barbed fitting to it and ran a line to the temp sensor gauge. On the JDM WP housing there is already a threaded insert, but on the USDM you will find a round flat spot where the JDM housing was threaded, this is where I did my mod. Wish I had a pic but that TII is long gone.

Good luck and post result pics
