Question Water Temp Thermo Sensor (HELP)

I have two 88 REX's, 1 SE and 1 GTU...last night had both the hoods up in the garage and noticed that the GTU did not have a Thermo sensor in the Thermostat housing module...there is a hole there but it is not machined out with threads and there is the electrical
connection near by...could this explain my intermittent
hot start failures? I have a spare housing with that installed but just wondered if there is something different here or is it a "FLUKE"? You guys have helped me before many times. Any Answers Here? THANKS!

Everything you said above indicates you are not looking at the water thermo sensor but instead the fan thermo sensor.

The water thermo sensor is located on the AFT side of the water pump housing, NOT the top.

Is one an S4, and the other an S5?

If so, they probably moved the sensor to a different location....

You're looking at the temp switch for the optional auxiliary electric fan. It's only fitted if the fan was fitted. This will not have anything to do with hot start problems.
