Water Leak under storage bins
Hey all, We have had a bunch of rain here in Atlanta and I have noticed that I have a leak into my storage bins of my 88 GXL. This has happened before, and I thought I fixed it, but apparently I didn't.
Here is the deal. If the car is parked and it is raining, then there is ususally no problem. But, under heavy rain, like we have been getting, there is a small accumulation in the storage bins. Nothing major, just enough to soak through the bottom of the bin and the sound deadening matetial. Does anyone know of a common place on 2nd gens that it could be leaking from? I am clueless. I have tried the hose approach with no luck (that or I am too impatient)
Any thoughts on where to look? Thanks
Carl

It may accually be the sunroof leaking if you have one. There is a drain tube that runs down the side of the car that maybe clogged or not in the right place or something. Thats really the only thing I can think of.

The other thing I would look at is the condition of the body plug right under the storage bin. There is a body plug under each one.
But its more than likely the sunroof or rear hatch drains are plugged. Check to see if your jack area is wet as well.

I have a GXL, and I know about the 2 plugs in the back of the car, but my back seats get wet sometimes, so where is the sunroof drain plug? Or the drain that runs down the side of the car.

I had the same prob about a year ago. It wasn't the sunroof but the Hatch drain tunes. they weren't draining to the outside of the car, but to the inside under the sound deadning in the hatch. Eventually the water would flow to it lowest point, which is the bins. Weird .....Check all possiblities. You never know what you might find.
