Water collecting in the hatch

I've been having a problem with water collecting in the unibody in my hatch. It is right where the jack is on the left side if you are looking at it from the back. Anyone know how I can stop this from happening? I dont want my car to rust out from the inside out, cause the body is in fairly good shape. Right now the car is being stored (waiting on some money to fix my tranny) and I would like to remedy the problem now that all the water has evaporated.

P.S. It is a series 5, if that helps any

Thanks,
Ryan

You should have a tub ethat the water is supposed to drain into, then down through a space near your fenderwell. I would check to see if it is clean(inside that is) then see if it is where it belongs.

Ill check that out, I kinda figured it had something to do with the tube hanging down out of the back. I got hung up on a snow drift last winter and when I pulled myself off I think it pulled that hose out of place, or pinched it.

Quick question: when I look in there will it be pretty obvious where the hose is supposed to be?

It shouldn't be too hard to find the tube and stick it back in. Also you might want to check to see if it is clogged in there. Just dump a little water in the drain hole where your hatch seals and see if it comes out the bottom of your car. If it all comes out than you fixed the problem if it dumps into your interior you need to fix it still.

In addition to the drain hole in the hatch, you should also have a drain tube attached to the bottom of the radio's electric antenna assembly. Maybe this tube is pinched or missing?

That's exactly where you're finding the water.

Is your hatch back gasket intact and in good shape? There are two drain holes on either side of the body, outside the gasket, where the hatch shuts. Make sure those are clear. Run a wire coat hanger down through those and pour a small amout of water through the holes and make sure it comes out the bottom of the car. The only way water could get into the hatch area is through the gasket or from the outside under the car. Make sure the gasket is good all the way around the hatch. If it has a rip near the top the water will run down inside the gasket to the lowest point and then get into the interior.
