wastegate size and level of noise produced?

about a month ago, i swapped out an S4 turbo and put on an S5. I reused the gasket to the engine but put a new gasket on the manifold to turbo. I also reused the dp gasket.

Before with the S4 turbo, you could vividly hear the turbo spool. it was incredibly loud and the exhaust was toned down a lot. This was with stock TID.

When i put on my S5 turbo, i cant even hear spooling anymore. When atmospheric pressure hits, i get an insanely loud (embarrasing around town) aggressive roar from the car. It doesnt sound like an exhaust leak except at idle when the car is cold the tapping noise can be heard.

Car definately builds boost fine. Doesnt despool either under heavy throttle.

All i can think of is the wastegate is bigger so less of the sound is being muffled, but that wouldnt explain why it gets loud at 0.0 bar instead of around .4 (5.5psi spring).

I may be pulling the turbo off soon to do a large porting job, should i bite the bullet and buy a new engine to manifold and turbo to downpipe gasket?

i'm kinda confused about this sound. there should be pretty much no difference in sound from s4 turbo to s5 turbo.

thats why im confused. To hear the turbo spool, i have to get into boost slowely in the upper gears with the radio off. before it could be heard over the radio.
