which wastegate should i get

I have a new rebuild with a pretty agressive port thats goin in soon..right now im keeping stock turbo setup, but plan on moving up to a BNR stage 4. I'm going to put an external wastegate on the stock turbo in the mean time instead of just porting the wastegate...m ultimate goal is around 400hp so I was wondering what size wastegate I should get that can accomidate the BNR in the end? I was looking at Tial because of the price..any suggestions?

Get the biggest thing you can afford.
I don't bother with anything less than a Tial 46mm, HKS Race 50mm, or HKS GT / GTII 50mm or 60mm.

would u suggest an electronically controlled over a spring...electronic seems like it woudl be more precise...where a spring limits u as far as what boots it opens at.

I don't know of any electronically controlled wastegate, unless you're talking about an electronic boost controller?

All wastegates are mechanical and controlled by a spring.

Tial 40mm would be perfect, only wastegates close to tial are the HKS and greddy R type wastegates, and I believe they are 500..I had a regular HKS and a tial, and the tial was much more consistant..

Hello.

Depending on which series turbo you have, I may be able to utilize the factory internal gate to be sufficient for your goals. The S4 I can get a 35mm wastegate port which is fine for 400 whp. The S5 I can do a custom valve assembly and really open the ports up. I have yet to do the S5 custom wastegate, but I am sure it would work great when it is done.
