Warped rotors.
I had a brake job recently on my 87gs. My pads were shot. I go to a small shop that knows alot avout RX7's. The owner is use to be a pit crew manager for a rx-7 racing team. The question that I have for all of you out there is that I've developed a noise when braking. My rotors were turned for the brake job and now they appear to be warped. He turned them again at no charge and it was noise free for 24 hours and the noise came back. I'm now going to put on new rotors. is ther a problem or something we shoould be told about? He's an excellent mechanic, but hs never had this proble. The fact that he's not charging me for all the extra labor makes me feel confident that he's not just another rip-off shop.
Anyone got any input on rotor problems on the 2nd gen?

Generally when the brake rotors warp, its not a sound, but a pulsation on the pedal when braking.
What does the sound really sound like?
If it is like when the pads are low, chances are he didn't use any brake squeel compound on the shims.
But breaking in pads slowly should be done for the first 50-100 miles as well.

Generally, it's better to go with new rotors.  If we're talking about the fronts, it's a 22mm new and 20mm min spec - that's only 2mm of metal you can play with.  2mm is not that much metal.  Taking metal away from the rotors removes heat capacity, therefore, turned rotors have a tendency to warp even quicker than before.
