Exclamation Warning!!! Read Up Everybody!

You know how everybody can smell the "rotary funk" (gas smell) when taking a drive in your rx-7 when you (yourself) cant smell a thing... Well this happes to me ALL the time. But today was a real eye opener for me...

I was getting wearry because of headaches when taking long drives, so I took my intake manifold to pieces to check it all out (so I could see everything including the primary injectors). I turned the ingnition to ON, primed the fuel lines with the service jumper and OMG fuel was leaking from the hose that connects the two fuel rails together! It was leaking about a drop of fuel a second!

Tomorow I am getting new lines and replacing all that I can.
FPD's are NOT the only reason for engine fires.

Just a word of caution... the "rotary funk" may not be normal condition. If you can... check your hoses for leaks with your lines pressurised.

note: My car is an 88 GXL NA with RB dual exhaust and emissions removed.

+1

Keep in mind the age of these cars and the fact the rubber is all cracked up.

I have the same setup and thats what I thaught was my problem was... but it was more than just the rotary funk. I would take it apart to check it if I were you. Did you ever replace your fuel lines yet? I dont think you want your car to burn down do you?

It doesnt matter if the exhaust smells or not, It should never get inside the cabin unless you are stopped with a tail wind.

I will get some pics and post them tonight.

Oh, and as far as I know, my fuel lines were still stock.

Edit: Typo

I think my smell in my cabin is coming from the fact that I don't have a charcoal canister. Still searching on why...

I sometimes smell exhaust in mine, but my rear hatch seals are gone. While driving I crack the windows, and Open the sunroof, and it clears.
