Warning on Parts Cleaner

I just did something stupid. I was cleaning my front cover in some parts cleaner my dad got me and it started flaking.

Parts cleaner + Aluminum = OOPS

People had told me to be careful about parts cleaner, and now I see why.

I think I'm going to be using gas and carb cleaner now.

Now what I need to know is if I can still use the front cover or not. It just looks like it has tiny little cracks on it. Like the salt flats.

now there wouldn't be any reason to use premium as opposed to regular, would there?

You sure they happened with the parts cleaner? They could have been hidden under the gunk. Seems like there are lots of front covers with superficial cracks.

I did not know that. The cracks seem to be all over. Even on the inside where I do not remember there cracks earlier. To be on the safe side I'm going to use gas and carb cleaner anyway. I don't want to end up needing new rotors or housings.
