Warning lights & idle assistance?
Hi everyone I have an 89 n/a GXL. My problem is I have all my warning lights such as: HATCH,OVER HEAT EXHAUST, DOOR, ADD COOLANT, BATTERY CHARGE, OIL LEVEL, FUEL come on after reving my motor to 7000 RPM in 3rd gear last night. All of the sudden this happen. I have plenty of fuel, good oil level, coolant, battery, doors closed and hatch, no leaks from what I see. All gauges are fine.
I am surprise the check engine light did not come on and the E-BRAKE and SEAT BELT waning lights are still functional.
Then my idle is crappy. I mean it was giving me crappy idle before but this time its worst as if it wants to die. The needle would surge up and down, up and down just between 250 RPM -850 RPM
It warms up fine and drives strong when I am on the highway. I am out of ideas on what to look for. Electrical or alternator perhaps? TPS? (which I am afraid to touch)

Those warning lights you mention come on when the alternator is failing. The alternator sends a signal to the alt. warning light relay in the CPU which then causes the various warning lights to turn on. This might explain your poor idling as low voltage will cause the car to behave in an erratic manner.

Alternator issue fixed. Turns to be a broken belt as well.
I wanted to know if there is any good threads with people that have been experimenting bad idling much more than erratic after installing HID conversion kits to the FC. It only happens when I turn the lights ON (sometimes it does idle over and between 1000-1500RPM) When OFF it drops to normal idling. My kit draws power from the positive terminal of the battery. It is a 6000k 35W bulb and mismatching ballast. Xenon H4 Hi/Lo HID kit.
Sorry if this is off topic but did not really want to start another thread. Thanks.
