Warning lights
I got my 7 for $300 (pretty nice). I,ve been working on my 7 for a couple of years off and on now, and when i first started the warning lights were working fine. Now the brake and door, and washer fluid (if its low) come on when there is no key in the ignition and its off. Any ideas? I have heard of cold solder joints on some things like ecu and warning gauges, but i haven't even drivin the car yet (still working on it). I did swap a non tilt steering column to a tilt one, i guess maybe a wire somewhere could be screwing something up, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, can't wait to drive it.

I have to take the room fuse out so the lights wont stay on. If i leave it in the lights stay on. It's frustrating since i've checked stuff all over.

what lights are staying on that you are removing the room fuse for? The warning lights???Or the parking lights? Or the room lights???
The warning lights you mention are common if the room fuse is blown or missing. The door dome light circuit back feeds.
But if they are coming on when the key is off, but the fuse is in and good, then you have one of the ignition wires wrong or the wrong warning panel for the wiring of the car. You didn't mention year or model, so it is impossible to say which panel you should have in the car.

The thing is, is that when i swapped the column the ignition stayed intact. I just had to move it to the other column. I'll check again to see if i got a loose or pinched wire somewhere. It's a 87 non turbo, but I dont know exatly what model since the guy I got it from had it painted and removed all decals. I read in someones post on here that you can call mazda w/ the VIN to find out exactly what model it is. What I know is it's not base, since I have 4 piston front calipers, rear disc, 5 lugs, and hard suspension package, but dont know what model that classifies for.
