Warning Alarm Going Off?????

I have some type of alarm going off and do not know what it is for. There are none of the "idiot" lights on. It starts after about a minute of the engine starting. It almost sounds like the chime for the key in the ignition with the door open alarm but slightly different.

I just installed this engine and have not so far been able to get it to run much below 3000 rpms. I have checked and rechecked several times for vacuum leaks and have set the timing correctly but still no luck getting the car close to an idle and I now have this alarm thing happening. Any ideas what this is for. It really comes on before anything would have time to overheat.

The warning buzzers and beeps are covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this section.

Please read the FAQ for FC before posting.

The warning beeps that go off can be for the power steering computer, door open w/key in the ignition, door open with lights on and ignition off.

The warning buzzers that can go off are for low coolant, low oil, or over rev.

From your description it sounds like the power steering computer (which again the beep codes are listed in the FAQ for FC).

And your bump has been deleted. Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section.

Yea, I read all of that stuff and none of it applies to this car. It is not the low oil, low coolant buzzer, I know those and those are not problems here. All fluids are at there proper levels. I also know it is not the door or light warnings. I have tried opening closing doors, turning lights off and on, etc and it does not go away. The power steering is full to its proper level and is plugged in correctly. That pretty well shoots down all of the stuff in the FAQs section.

So THIS IS THE REASON I ASKED THE QUESTION HERE. Is that no the purpose of this forum??????

Frankly it seems more and more like the place to discuss ridiculous stuff that is of no use to anyone. Like maybe I should have asked if my turbo would produce more boost with my finger stuck up my butt our not. I bet that would get plenty of responses and suggestions.

I bumped the post because it seemed that after nearly 12 hours of posting that it was getting ignored and being buried.

Please forgive me if I have offended anyone with this but I am getting a little frustrated trying to get this car out of my garage and back on the road.

If the power steering has gone into the default mode, there would still be boost.

Everything you say points to that.

If you unplug the power steering computer does the problem go away.

If it does not, then un plug the CPU and see if it goes away.

This rules it down to what is causing the problem... The power steering computer or the CPU.

Of course you still haven't even posted what model or year... I suppose if you had an A spec S5 coupe it could also be the mouse belt computer.

This is pretty basic stuff. No reason to get huffy. The FAQ for FC was made to help and save YOU time. Instead you ignore it... and get all upset because I call you on it???

Believe me I GREATLY appreciate all help but one of my last points I tried to make is that I DID read that stuff and really none of it exactly matches what this car is doing. This is why I ask this question along with several others I had about the same car. By the way it is an 88 n/a with auto tranny.

I will try disconnecting the power steering wires and see what that does. I do not think that will help though but at this point I am willing to try anything. The only electrical issue I have found is that I had the oil pressure capisitor hooked up incorrectly but I did not see anything in the faqs that said anything directly related to that other than the low oil warning and I know the oil is not low.

I did not mean to be offensive. I am just really frustrated with this car right now and was not in a mood to be lectured about how to use this board and its proper ettiquit. This car isn't even mine which makes things much more aggrivating for me because it is taking up space in my garage and I need it gone.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!
