Want to keep the car and make it a project car!

Here is the situation:
I have a new job and right now I have an 87 N/A. I want to keep it and fix it up. New engine, cd player, NOS, new wheels, etc. I have a feeling that a good 7 will go for a lot of money in the future. Besides how fun would it be to use that as a weekend car when everything else looks plastic and is slow due to alternative fuel!

The question: What kind of car should I get to drive while I'm doing all of this? I was thinking a pickup so I could haul parts if I needed to.

I hate feeling so much love for my 7!
If I ever got rid of it I would hate myself.

Truck doesn't sound too bad. But make sure you don't have to make payments because that will be less money toward the seven.

I say go for an early 90s Nissa P/U or Toyota. I also see Isuzu's for pretty cheap. Definitely japanese and a truck can be used for alot of things that the 7 wouldn't be able to be used for.
