voltage horror story! help!

Yeah, about a week ago, i noticed my voltage was not good at all. I would check it on my greddy turbo timer, and it would always be so low that i couldn't start the car, and it wouldn't hold any volts after a jump. So the next day i headed to Autozone, and i took my battery and alternator in there, and had them both tested. The battery was fine, but the alternator was not holding any voltage at all. So i got a new alternator, installed it. The first week was great, always a good 12.5-13.5 volts showing, but now recently i've noticed it's been dropping to the low 11's and 10's...

My question is, why do you think it's just loosing voltage like that, after a new alternator? Would it be the battery now...or what? I'm lost, please help!

thanks,
marshall

I'd also examine your battery terminals - old, corroded battery terminals just don't cut it.

plus also check your belt tension. It is not unsual for a belt to start slipping after a couple hundred miles from being newly installed.

Use only Mazda reman's - everything else is CRAP.&nbsp All the rebuilt alternators/starters from the local big-chain auto parts stores are all crap, even with the "lifetime warranties".

ok, well i think i finally figured out the problem, I got home the other day and i checked my alternator and all the connections to it. The problem is (i think) that the main ground connections are not on very well, so tomorrow i will go out there and make sure they are good and tight on the adaptor on the alternator. I will let yall know if it works out. Thanks for the help guys.

Yea, this morning i went out and took off the intercooler, and found that the wires were not on to the adaptor very well at all, so i put the wires on and got them on good and tight, had my brother jump my car, and it sits at a good 12.5 volts. Thanks for the help guys.

thanks again,
marshall
