VIO SAYS:how do I replace the shifter-spring

hey first off thanks so much to aron cake and the help he gave me bout the timing and pinging sound in my engine,, i have figured it out YOOHOO IT`S ALL GOOD NOW..

then: now i need to replace the spring that holds the gear-stick in place... i have opened up in the console and tried to figure this out looks like i have to lower the gearbox to fix this,, (that is a lot of work),,
-somebody/anybody ever done this????

Don't you have to drop the tranny to replace the center return springs?

well hehe that was what I was afraid of,,, I was just hoping that somehow, someway, there could be a slight chance,that it might be another way to do this
