Question very rich idle w/o air pump

As someone who has removed the air pump, ACV and all the solenoids from my TII, I am also someone who has to load the tank up with methanol in order to pass the MOT (local emissions test). The car really stinks of gas at idle.

I read somewhere that it is possible to modify the ecu signals somehow to get the car to run 'closed loop' at idle, as well as cruising. If anyone has any info about how to do this I would be very grateful.

Thanks

ralph

Why not, won't the car idle with a weak enough mixture?

I have a Modified Fc to i live in the Northwest Nr Manchester.

I take my car to a Garage near by that also tunes cars so they know the score, Also my car is 1990 so the regulations are not as tight as 92 cars. basicly i have been told that if the car does not emit clouds of smoke it will pass.

I dont know if i am just lucky or this is comon in the modded car world.
