A few things to check out here.
One: get your Buddy's expanation of What the Fark he did to your car.
Two:What type of gas did he put in?..What gas station?.(could be water in gas???.Drain and Refill with good gas,put on another fuel fillter).
Three: do you have access to a Compression tester?..do a Compression test.NOW.(do you trust your buddy enough that he didn't Drive the **** out of your car and Blow the engine????)
Four: do a vacuum/pressure test on the Intercoooler system,( www.fighters-garage.com They have testers for 29 bucks,.excellent gadget.).that will allow you to find any leaks that would make the car run like ****.
Five Coolant Buzzer going off?,Check the coolant level.Start the car with the rad cap or the Thermo housing cap.If Coolant "explodes/gushes" out of the system,Then your Coolant seals are shot..Most likely by your Buddy.
..RULE OF ROTARY: never EVER lend your Car out..EVER!
I hope that may help you..Cheers STYX.

I'm havin the same problem, I was just doing 220kms eariler and I came down to a stop and turned and the car stalled out, had a **** load of trouble starting (at least like 40 minutes) and when it got going again, it sounded like it had a bridgeport at idle speeds (haha, like it was going to idle by itself) but it sounded fine at like 2500-3000. Was yours like that too? Does it start? Personally, I think I threw the timing off because I was already getting a squeak. But get your friend to tell you how he actually drove the car.

symptoms sound like a blown water seal. Check compression. If that is good, have the coolant chemically checked for the presence of exhaust gases. If you pass both of those, breathe a sigh of relief and start looking at other things...

If your boost was spiking to 23... well, none of the seals are likely to survive that for very long. Maybe he just got unlucky, or maybe the gas he put in was not high enough octane to avoid detonation under that kind of boost... maybe you should be running 100/130 aviation fuel?
