Vert trunk light

I had no idea my 89 had a trunk light, but the PO had removed the bulb. Does anyone know how exactly its supposed to work? I put a meter on the plug, no 1 12V with trunk open, or lights on.

Thanks!

the stupid thing goes on once you hit the release, so its basically always on even if the trunk is "closed" and runs the battery dead.
this is why most people just disconnect them

If it's like my 90 GXL, than note that there's a rocker switch on the trunk light assembly. First verify that this switch is in the ON position. If no voltage when in the ON position, than you'll need to trace the wires due to a possible disconnect or short.

Ah that explains why the bulb was out. I’ll hook a rocker switch to it or come up with a better way.
Wow what moron decided that setup was awesome...?

it made my battery go dead too many times from me leaving the trunk released but closed
I have no need for a light in my trunk
