Vert owners - springs by Racing Beat in development

Good news convertible owners. As we speak Racing Beat is designing springs for us.

Finally, exact fit and correct dampening rates to match the convertible's weight. No more paying high $$$ for OEM springs.

DON'T GO CALLING THEM JUST YET though. It will be a few weeks until they have a final product and begin production.

Any idea how much lower they're gonna be? I'm guessing the same as all of their other springs...

They're oh so close. Racing Beat is on there 3rd engineering sample set and feels this may be the production version. A few sets of springs are being made and shipped from Japan which Racing Beat will test on several convertibles before making a final decision.

That's what we love about R.B. They test, use, and sell what they make. By enthusiest for enthusiest.

My Crystal Ball says we'll be ordering them during sevenstock.

SWEET. Just in time, too. I need to replace my old shocks, so what perfect timing! What do you guys recommend for new shocks on a street driven 'vert?

take your pick. I use tokico non adjustables "the blue ones." If your picky you can buy the adjustables and tweek to your hearts content.

You might ask Racing Beat to recommend shocks as well.

Perfect timing, suspension work was the next thing on my list for the vert. Keep us updated if you hear anything.

I talked to RB in early December and they had finalized the spring setup. They had placed orders and since their shop is in Japan, apply the usual 3 month rule before anything shows up in the US.

I'll give them a call this week and get an update

Yeah, I'd like to know too. In the spring, the vert will probably get a full suspension with sway and strut bars, bushings, springs/struts, etc.

is there a majo difference between T2, NA and vert springs?

I heard T2 and NA springs are interchangeable and a vert isn't?

Yeah Jim @ RB called me on Sunday and I've just now ordered mine. 20% stiffer over stock was what they decided on.

YES, Mazda put different springs on the convertibles. They'll "bolt up" I believe, but the spring rates are different.

Let us know how the springs are. Are you getting the sway bars too? And what shocks are you going to run? I am very interested in this set up and want to find out all I can before I decide to buy it.

I'm using Tokico "blue" non adjustables.

The last thing I'd upgrade would be sway bars, I'd do tri-strut-tower + body bars way before swaybars.

I already have the Mazdatrix Triangulated bar with torque brace and the Kirk Racing Roll bar so I am looking at springs and shocks or coilovers next. The RB package seems like a really good deal though and the roll bars are matched to the springs so I think that would lead to a car that was more well balanced. What body bars are you talking about? Is it the Cusco lower arm bar or the Autoexe frame members? Those look like they would stiffen the chassis quite a bit.
