Vert idiot- Convertibal top will not close!

I am driving my new 91 vert and I just got her home and felt a few drops. The top was open when I picked her up and I did not try to operate it. When I put the car in park, engine running or not, e brake on (but no light on the idiot cluster??), and press the switch I get Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP nothing. And nothing happens???

I fliped open the hard part and made sure the doors and windows were shut, but still nothing.

Help!
Thanks!

I have a 1990 and the same thing just occurred to me. The switch on the center console that you flip for the top to go up and down, for me at least, two wires going to that switch had come off. I unscrewed the console, and flipped over, and if you look at that particular switch, see if the wires haven't come undone. I touched the wires to the appropriate solder point, and wa lah, it went up. I will fix when its light out. Hope that helps.

My guess is the switch that "senses" if the e-brake is up or not is defective, hence the lack of brake light on your idiot cluster. The top will NOT operate unless the ebrake is up. I would def look there first, since you are getting the 'beep' (telling me the switch is operating normally).

Ill agree with the above. If you cant get it to work however and need the top closed all be it id try to avoid this but if you do a search about manually raising the top theres a thread somewhere that shows how you get it to close manually. Id only do this if you have to though, if its just a couple wires unplugged or something id search that over before doing the process to manually close it. Ill see if i can locate the thread and ill add it to my post.

Edit: here is the link i found for getting it to close manually:
