Question vert door speakers

Asking a question for a friend who has a primo 18,000 original mile 88 vert. The door speakers need to be replaced and they are above the arm rest in the mid part of the door not towards the front like some. Can anyone tell me if removing the entire door panel is the only way to get access to replacing those speakers.

Thanks

Yes, you have to take the door panel off, but it's only a 3 minute job.

In the FAQ section of this forum there are links to the FSM factory service manual. It will show you how. Basically, you take the screws out and lift up on it. It comes right off. Sony makes a 6 1/2 inch round 3 way speaker that will fit in that hole and sounds pretty damn good. Walmart sells them. (Sony Xplod)
