Vert aluminum hood insulation

I'm getting the vert painted and the stuff under the hood is likley going to be removed

1. is this for sound deadening or heat or both ?
2. is it needed ?
3. any supplier for a new replacement?

1: yes both but mostly heat- preventing the hood from fading pre-maturely
2: IMO yes
3: Mazda dealer, mazdaparts.com, etc

thanks ..... its in bad shape and that probably explains the accelerated fading of the hood relative to the rest of the car .... it took a lot of buffing to get the hood that blazzzing red each time I waxed it.

just checked mazda ... 108.00 CAN$. availibility good
