Venting stock BOV Problem???

Ok today i was just messing around and i took the stock bov and unpluged it from the spot where it vents into the intake. Well the cars idle was all messed up and stuff and it didnt run right, so i just put it back. But is there no way to vent the stock bov, i mean how is it any different than an aftermarket atmosphere venting bov??? or is there something else you need to do when u vent one to atmosphere...

BtW i did plug the intake so there woundnt be a leak...

Thanx

the stock bov at idle is open alittle. to vent it to atmosphere you have to put a check valve on the end of it to stop the vaccum leak

the stock BOV(bypass valve) does not fully seal at idle so venting it to the atmosphere without any side affects is only possible if you are running a standalone EMS.

basically you are losing metered air by venting it both by a vacuum loss(lean condition) and by a metered air loss when venting(rich condition). either leave it as it was or run an aftermarket BOV, you will still have the rich condition but the idle will be normal at least.

edit: ive heard of the check valve but i think it is a bad idea, the stock BOV isn't the greatest for flow and the check valve will add restriction when blowing off.

ok thanx guys, i didnt kno that it was a vac leak at idle, that would explain the messed up idle and such... and and the thing popped off last night when i punched it, it came unpluged from the tid and i thought i blew an apex seal cause it wouldnt idle, nor would it rev over 3k..lol...im glad there was no blown motor....

On a side note, wat type of bov goes in the stock position on the tid, i no its not one of those ones with the weld on raptor flange or the screw on type, but thats seems to be all i see on ebay, wat type are u guys running on a stock car....

Thanx

you can get adapters to run just about any aftermarket BOV with the stock TID, you just need to adapt it to the hose that comes off the elbow or have a flange wleded onto the elbow or make a new elbow out of steel piping with a flange welded on. a number of ways to make it work with the stock piping.

one more thing too, will a better tid raise boost alot? im fixen to be takin my air pump off and thought i might as welll upgrade the tid and make a true cai, that coupled with a brand new 2.5in exhaust from the turbo back with no cats and two ebay mufflers, how much boost am i looking at there, should i go with the rtek 1.5 or the 1.7 for more fuel? and do i need a bigger fuel pump and another fpr? sry for all the ?'s i just need some answers for this stuff... because there fixen be alot of changes to my car and it hits fuel cut easy running an open downpipe off the turbo with NO exhaust..lol..
