vented the stock BOV and dies

Ok, i went to home depot and got a pvc plug for the BOV intake hole and plugged it with a hose clamp. I tried to start the car and it would hold a rev, but wouldn't idle. It just died right as i let off the gas. I know that a check vavle should go on the end of the BOV, but i didn't have time to find one, and i was told that not having one only caused a small vaccum leak, but still worked. What happened in my case? any info will help, thanks

Dude... you need to get a BOV that seals under vaccume.

The stock BOV leaks when the car is under vaccume and is causing your car to die.

Quit half assing it, save your pennies and do it right.

TII drivetrain? You don't need no stiiiiiiinking TII drivetrain unless you launch/drag race.

stock BOV should not cause it to die..just run slightly rough. maybe yours is just a leaky one tho...why dont you just run it like its supposed to be? its more functional that way anyway. youre always cool when ur kicking someones ***, you dont need a noise to tell it.

As I told you when we discussed it, the checkvalve is necessary if you want the car to idle the same as it does now. IF you want to do without the valve, the BOV will leak, causing a bad idle (nonexistant) and a bit of stutter at low end. I also told you that to run it open with no checkvalve, you'd have to UP THE IDLE to get it to stay running with the leak. SO you either have to UP THE IDLE to 1500+, (done by a screw under the intercooler on the back of the intake facing the passengers side, you'll need a long phillips screwdriver), OR you can run a checkvalve or get a proper atmosphere BOV.

Take care of my baby

At least I got the consolation prize (sig)

My stock one makes enough noise now after removing the twinscroll and performing the TB mod, and its hooked up properly. Why do you care about pissing people off with the pssht noise? Are you a ricer or something?

Dude, you just spent like 8 grand on that car (or something close)...put the BOV back the way it was and get a decent aftermarket BOV when you have the cash. GReddy among others make a bolt on kit for the car...don't cheap out on one of the nicest turbo verts around

Cool, take care of it!! I love that car...the only thing that I never liked was the modern mazda badge on the front bumper...it just doesn't work for me.

that's a japanese efini emblem, not the modern "flying M" mazda emblem that comes on the new US mazdas. I put 2 of those new mazda badges on the FD. I think it sets it off. It wouldnt have looked right on the FC, though.

Dude that car is amazing! I have seen it in person and please just save your pennies. Or put the bov back to stock, go race someone for 200 bucks and take that money and buy an aftermarket BOV.

The efini badge/name is only for an FD, Infini was for an FC and it looked like this:

It's a terrible pic I know, but it's basically an "infinity" symbol with infini written within the logo. The infini III was an S4 FC, the inifni IV was an S5. The infini IV versions weighed a little less than a standard FC turbo, were a little lower and featured a low restriction exhaust, a strut tower brace, 16X7 inch BBS wheels w/ pirelli P-zeros, and a Momo corse steering wheel. The rims center caps and the steering wheel's horn button featured the infini logo as well. The car was offered with no stereo, no power windows, no rear wiper, no sound deadening and no spare tire. I'm not sure what the Infini III had...

Surely save your money until you can get an aftermarket BOV. I have heard tons about that vert and it would be a shame to screw it up by doing something half assed.

Oh I know that, but there is nowhere that you can get real infini emblems, and the vert needed a little something with teh stock badges removed...fd efini emblems were readily available so I went with those. They also tie in with the FD efini steering wheel in the car, which has the emblem on it.
