Various issues with 88T2 and need assistance

I bought a 88 FC from FC_Drifter back in March and been having some problems with the car.

1) There is no cold assistant on the car, making me have to sit in the icy cold weather of Iowa and freeze my butt off in order to get the engine warmed up. Is this hard to install on a FC? Are there any "aftermarket" cold assistants compatible with the FCs and how much do they run whether stock or "aftermarket"?

2) My car has been having problems starting. When I turn the key half the time I get battery power but it doesn't even want to turn. After a couple attempts and several minutes cursing that I'm going to burn it, it will finally turn over and run. Could this be the starter going out?

3) My engine has not been running right while driving. When I drive whether its cold or warmed up it starts to sputter. It does not do it all the time, it seems like its being choked when I accelerate. Seems to happen whether I am spooling the turbo or slightly accelerating. I popped the hood one day and found oil on the PS side of my car under the hood and on the right side of the engine bay. I notices a little bit of oil sitting at the rim of my BOV and wondering if I have an oil leak somewhere that is spraying out of my BOV or possibly from somewhere else.

4) The A/C and heater do not work properly, they are not giving the me selected temperatures. The heater does not get hot and the A/C does not get cold. Suggestions?

I have been unable to take care of these problems nor afford them lately due to so many family emergencies and now things have quieted down I am not able to start getting my hands dirty and fixing my T2. I'm not a mechanic nor that knowledgable in diagnosing cars but can do the work if I know what needs to be done. Any advice will be of help. Thanks guys.

well for question number 2 you might wana look at your battery conectors because i had the same problem and i went out and redid the battery conextors and i havent had a probem with that yet. as for question 3 it kind of sounds like your turbo maybe going bad you might want to jack up the car and look for oil around or on turbo.

1) Can you tell if the AWS & the thermo-wax stuff has been removed or just disabled?
It they are still there, the thermo-wax fast idle cam may need adjustment.
I get the feeling that this car is set up as a "sport around on the weekends" ride, rather than a daily driver.
2) Like JAB said - probably a bad primary cable connection.
3) Light throttle sputter - Check the TPS & AFM signal for bad spots in the sweep of values.
A spray contact cleaner like CRC 2-26 will usually clear it up.
4) I'd start by working the spray contact cleaner in behind the buttons & slider of the AC logicon.

About the turbo: Check the impeller for side play & end play.
A little side play is OK as long as the impeller can not touch the housing.
Any end play means the oil seals are worn out.

Sounds like either the starter or a short in the battery cables. Had that on mine. Just take off the connectors and clean them up. The oil does sound like your turbo is going out. That could also explain the sputtering if oil is getting into the intake.

got a new battery and it was running fine after that last month. The problem started a little after getting the new battery. When I get the cars front braking system replaced I will check out what you guys suggested. Thanks!

welp unfortunately still havent been able to meet up with the guy to check my car out but he was also stating that he believes its just the turbo. So hopefully thats all that it is and **** will be working. Any idea on how much turbos run and how much a rebuild is?
