Variable resistor and Air pump help for emissions

Two quick questions. First, for the life of me I can not find the Variable resistor, if some one could post a pic or something that would be very helpful.
Second, I have read about rerouting the air pump so that it feeds directly into the cat, if someone who has done this could shed a little more light on to how to do this it would be very helpful.

Thanks

The variable resistor is mounted right next to the manifold pressure sensor.

little stubby looking-thingy with 2 small philips screws...mounted on the bracket next to the boost/pressure sensor, which is the rectangular looking-thingy with "pressure sensor" on the upper placard, which is also mounted to the right strut tower, which is on the right (as viewed from the seat) side of the engine compartment...you need the hood open to see it...
