Vacuum hose diagram??

Hey guys,

I have an 1987 Turbo II and I pulled out my fuel rails / injectors to be sent to RC ENG for cleaning. While doing that a bunch of fuel/Vacuum hoses came loose or were already loose. TO be more specific, there are about 6 hoses 5 -10 inches long, 1cm diameter.

Where do these hoses originally hook back up to?
Does anyone have a diagram?

P.s. does anyone have or know where to get the gasket that goes on the throttle body?

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Asghar

I think the service manual is on www.fc3s.org or http://fc3s.org

You can most likely find your answer there.

As far as replacing hose, it's a good idea to replace the rubber vacuum lines with silicon tubing - it's near indestructible, and won't get hard and break over time.

Fuel line you can get at any parts store - just get 5/16" ID fuel injection hose.

You need about 20 feet of 3.5mm vacuum line and 10 feet of 6mm vacuum line to replace nearly every vacuum line under the hood. http://www.hosetechniques.com is THE place to get silicon vacuum tubing from - their stuff is top quality.

What gasket on the throttle body are you talking about? There's an O-ring between the throttle body and the intake elbow, then a phenolic spacer between the TB and the upper intake manifold - no gasket.

Thanks for the info guys, it really helps.
AS for the hoses, i'm going to get silicone hoses. I will buy the gasket from mazdaatirx, thier priced a lot cheaper then dealership. btw, it is the one that goes between the Upper and Lower Manifolds (injection).

I still can't find hose diagrams?? IF you have specific URL links that would really help a lot.

thanks,
Asghar

http://www.fc3s.org look under manuals, and download the FUEL SECTION for turbos. The diagram is inadequate. Sorry about that. Also try http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and download the manual from there also. Same deal, fuel section= inadequate drawing of the vac hoses.

Name a hose and we'll tell you where it goes. Like the top of the oil injectors have vacuum hose. They go to a black spider under the intake. The spider has four small nipples and one large nipple. Large nipple goes to the large metal nipple on the back of the throttle body. I know you knew that. That was an example.

Hey Hailers,

I looked in fc3s.org and didn't find manuals??
I downloaded the manual from iluvmrrx7.com.... you're right the pictures are horrible.

I've been trying to figure out what hose came from where. When you say oil injectors, dp you mean those metal prongs sticking out of the engine?? there are 4 nipples on the black spider, I put the 4 hoses on the nipple of the black spider. Now, does it matter which which of those hoses (from the 4 nipples) go on to oil injectors (the metal prongs)???

So far I put the Large nipple on to the large metal nipple on the back of the throttle body. the other four nipples is what i'm confused about. Can I just put them on any of the oil injector prongs or do they have to be specificly put on a certain prong (i.e. are they interchangable) ??

anyone have pics of the correct way these vacuum hoses fit??

very confused,
Asghar

between the oil injectors closest to the secondary fuel rail, there are two small metal hose lines......

There are rubber hoses attached to them but I don't know where the other ends of the hoses attach to??

Any ideas??

fc3s.org has the manuals under HOW TO.

1. The nipple that is directly between the two oil injectors, should be run to the back of the throttle body and attached just above the large nipple where you put the hose from the oil injectors spider.

2. The spider: No, it does not matter which oil injector goes to which nipple on the spider. What ever fits easiest.

3. On the back of the throttle body of a 87 turbo there are four nipples. The bottom nipple MUST go to the water thermo valve located about three inches to the left of the four nipples. The water thermo valve is plastic and has two plastic nipples on it.

4. The other three of the four nipples on the back of the throttle body: The large one to the spider for the oil injectors. The one above that goes to the nipple located inbetween the oil injectors on the intake. The top nipple can be capped off.

5. Oil injectors are those *prongs* that have a small oil line at their base going fwd on the engine.

I think maybe there is a hose I have not covered. Name it and where you see it.

Just to recap what we said so far, i'm posting my PM's on the thread.

Thanks for the help, things are starting to make a lot of sense. I couldn't see the how to section cause I'm running windows XP and it doesn't have a java virtual machine installed on it......

Besides the nipple between the two oil injectors, there is another nipple.... if your looking at the engine from the passenger side of the car you see the two oil injectors closest to the secondary fuel rail and between the two oil injector is a nipple (which I now know where it goes) BUT, there is another nipple to the left of the two oil injectors (closest to the front windshield of the car).

where does that one lead to??

On my 87turboii, I have that one connecting to a pipe just a few inches below it. Near the end of the primary fuel rail. Do you have a pipe in that area?

I think the pipe your talking about is the nipple that i'm talking about. Just a few inches above it is another nipple (comming out of the intake) just guessing but, your saying that the pipe next to the two oil injectors connects to the nipple on the intake a few inches above it?

If the *nipple* coming out of the intake is a short pipe that is at a bit of a angle, yes, connect the two.

If memory serves, that connection will end up at the orange solenoid and come back to feed the fuel pressure regulator at the end of the secondary fuel rail.

OK, I got under my hood and checked it out again and this is what I see:

1) there is a pipe, a few inches, under the primary fuel rail, which is next to the base of oil injectors.

2) there's a nipple comming off the intake about the same level as the primarly fuel rail

ok so those two should be connected to each other.

the nipple between the two oil injectors connects to the back of the throttle body and attached just above the large nipple where you put the hose from the oil injectors spider.

and the first nipple on the throttle body I have connected to this thing bolted on to the intake (under the secondary fuel rail), (looks like it has somthing to do with the cold start assist thing, because there is a pipe leading to that bottle)

Does that seem right?

Thanks,

Asghar

I finished putting everything back together and started it. it smoked a little (proly cause I haven't started it in a 2 weeks). I let it warm up and after it was warmed up it was idling rough. The RPMS's surged from 1000 to 300.

I then Adjusted the BAC and it Idled normaly. I took it out for a spin and it started to idle roughly again.

The car ran great under 3000 rpm but when taking it to higer rpms it started to sputter like it didn't want to go faster. Afew blocks more of driving, I came to a stop sign and the car idled down and shut off. I couldn't get it started again.

After a few hours I tried to start it again and it started but wouldn't stay on unless I had my foot on the gas.

Any thoughts? Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Asghar
